GENERAL COMMENTS ABOUT THE RESORT
The Fairways Gold Crown resort, situated at Drakensberg Gardens Golf & Leisure
resort, on 860 acres of World Heritage site, has spectacular views of the only 18 hole
golf course in the heart of the Southern Berg. This mountain range is the most
majestic in South Africa and is the longest in the country, running for hundreds of
kilometres and reaching a width of 150km (93.2 miles) in places.
Drakensberg Gardens is located 2 hours from Durban in KwaZulu-Natal; with
surrounding hills make the area breathtakingly beautiful.

TOURIST ATTRACTIONS
Trips to Sani Pass, which climbs to an altitude of 2874 metres to visit the
highest pub in Africa in a 4x4, can easily be arranged as a day visit. The
dramatic 4x4 trip climbs 1330 metres in a mere six and half kilometres.
Named after the San people. Passports are required for trips to Sani Pass.
There is the Yellow Wood Church a historical landmark in Bulwer en route to
Drakensberg Gardens built over a century ago. Pucketty Farm, an honestysystem
farm shop with delights and delicacies to purchase.
Underberg Town, only 34km away – it has taverns, shops, banks, garages
and restaurants, Sani Saunter, Duck Dolittle and Iris Farm.
DIRECTIONS
From OR Tambo International Airport: Take the N3 towards Pietermaritzburg. Just
after Howick take the turn off left marked Howick South/Underberg – Exit 99, follow
the signs to Bulwer on the R617. Continue through Bulwer to Underberg,
approximately 4 km after the town of Underberg, you will see a large signboard
marked Drakensberg Resorts. This turn off will put you on to a tarred road, which is
the latest stretch to the resort. Fairways are at the end of this road. The trip should
take you more or less 6 hours (670 km).
From Durban International Airport: Take the N3 past Pietermaritzburg. Just before
Howick, take the off ramp to the left marked Howick South/Underberg – Exit 99,
follow the signs to Bulwer on the R617. Continue through Bulwer to Underberg,
approximately 4 km after the town of Underberg, you will see a large signboard
marked Drakensberg Resorts. This turn off will put you on to a tarred road, which is
the latest stretch to the resort. Fairways are at the end of this road. The trip should
take you more or less 3 hours (270 km).
